Temperature Characteristics
The structure of a supercapacitor is no longer that of a flat plate
electrode (or a flat plate electrode rolled into a tube) filled
with a dielectric material in the middle—like peanut butter in the
middle of a sandwich. In supercapacitors, charge/discharge of
charge occurs at the interface between porous carbon materials or
porous metal oxides in the electrolyte.
The Helmholtz layer induces an effect known as double layer
capacitance. When a DC voltage is applied across the porous carbon
electrodes in a supercapacitor, cations or anions used for charge
compensation accumulate in the electrolyte around the charged
electrodes. If electron migration does not occur across the
interface, then "two layers" of separated charge (electrons or
electron-holes on the metal side, and cations or anions on the
electrolyte side of the interface boundary) will appear at the
interface
The process flow of the supercapacitor is:
batching→mixing→electrode making→cutting→assembling→liquid
injection→activation→testing→packaging.
The exact details of supercapacitor construction depend on the
application and use of the supercapacitor. These materials may vary
slightly due to manufacturer or specific application needs. The
commonality of all supercapacitors is that they all contain a
positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a diaphragm between
the two electrodes. The electrolyte fills the two pores separated
by the two electrodes and the diaphragm.
The structure of the supercapacitor. It is composed of porous
electrode material with high specific surface area, current
collector, porous battery separator and electrolyte. The electrode
material and the current collector should be closely connected to
reduce the contact resistance; the separator should meet the
conditions of having the highest possible ionic conductivity and
the lowest possible electronic conductivity, generally an
electronic insulating material with a fiber structure, such as
polypropylene film . The type of electrolyte is selected according
to the nature of the electrode material.
